"Should we pay or shouldn’t we?”
But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap me?” he asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” They brought the coin, and he asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied. Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”
And they were amazed at him. Mark 12:15-17
Do you find it ironic that still to this day, anything that is genuinely done in the name of Jesus is always attacked?Jesus, once again is being ridiculed by the religious leaders. Although the questions are focused around tax, the point of this story is our own image and how we reflect to the world.
Jesus request in verse 16, "Whose image is on this?"
And clearly claims, pay to whom what is owed. There are two defining points we can take away from this story and our own lives.
Just as Jesus demanded them to bring Him the coin. One day we will all be called to step forward so Jesus can look at us. Will He say "whose image is on you?" Or will He see Himself reflected back?
To often we miss great opportunities to reflect the image of Jesus because we are to worried about the image of ourselves, our family, or our organization. What could happen, if we stopped worrying about our worldly image and took a chance to be like Christ? What would happen if we put our focus mainly about broken souls and lives? Jesus never, not once, do I find Him worried or protecting His image. Jesus was setting the bar for a new image, an image of love, grace, and humility.
What if, we could be like Jesus?

"Where You At?"
We are currently living in a type of modern dark ages. If the LORD spares time, years from now the time period we are living in will be studied by future generations.
Big questions that will be asked at that time will be, where was the church? What were Christians doing? Where were the ones that the Bible speaks about in Acts that turned the world upside down? How did they abide the wickedness, immorality, violence, coldness, lukewarmness?
My hope is that me and mine will be counted as ones who stood opposed to the corrupt culture. That it would be said of the Remnant that though none went with us still we followed Him.
